Clinical photos straight into the medical record

A mobile app for nurses: scan the wristband, take and annotate the photo, and the record updates — with nothing left on the phone.

Wound care depends on photos taken over weeks. Before this app, nurses took them on whatever device was at hand, then transferred and filed them by hand. Every manual step was a chance to attach a picture to the wrong patient.

What we built

  • The patient is identified by scanning the wristband with the phone camera, or by entering the ID.
  • The nurse takes one or more photos, annotates them, adds notes and submits.
  • The electronic medical record is updated with a link to a PDF of the encounter, ready for the next visit.
  • No data is stored on the device, and the user is signed out automatically after inactivity.

Why it matters

In healthcare the security rules are the product, not an afterthought. Designing for a lost phone and an unattended screen from day one made the app simpler: there is nothing on the device to protect. The same principle — decide early what must never be stored — applies to any app that handles personal data.

Our founder has worked on this product as a senior lead engineer since 2023, on the mobile app and its .NET backend.
